Sometimes it takes a village to raise a Blugold. Just ask Kendra Harding, a UW-Eau Claire senior who credits her village — a support system that spans the campus and three continents — with helping her discover her passions and prepare for her future.
Gathering in Zorn Arena is a December tradition for the Kronholm family. When she walks across the stage next month, Kelsey Kronholm will become the fourth member of her family to graduate from UW-Eau Claire — all during winter commencement ceremonies.
A natural performer and a veteran of many theater productions, Chase Kazmierkoski loves to be at center stage. As a Blugold, he found ways to use his talents for showmanship to prepare for a career in business.

Like many Blugolds, Gabrielle White values the traditions — as well as the heirlooms — her family has passed down from generation to generation. However, unlike most of her Blugold peers, Gabrielle gets to share her cherished family traditions and treasures with the UW-Eau Claire campus and greater Eau Claire communities. Since she was a teen, the junior psychology major from Black River Falls has been among the dancers at UW-Eau Claire’s annual Honoring Education Powwow. This year, she was the head dancer at the powwow on her campus.
Sometimes a gift really does keep on giving. Just ask Bobbie Schultz, a soon-to-be UW-Eau Claire graduate who has been running her own business for years thanks to a long-ago birthday present from her mom. The Blugold — who will graduate in December after just 2½ years with a degree in business management — was turning 7 when her mom gave her a chinchilla, a lovable creature that quickly captured Bobbie’s heart. Fourteen years later, the Blugold entrepreneur is a certified chinchilla breeder who sells more than 300 of the animals a year through her business, “Bobbie’s Chinchillas.”
Turns out there might just be something to that old proverb, "Like mother, like daughter." At least if you are Amy Dorn-Fernandez and Miranda Fernandez and you are thinking about your futures. Both came to UW-Eau Claire — though decades apart — because of the university’s reputation for offering exceptional study abroad programs. Amy got more than she expected from her time studying in Spain — she fell in a love, eventually marrying a young Spaniard. Twenty-plus years later, their daughter, Miranda, is a Blugold and already looking forward to studying abroad in Spain.
